Rejoining the land of the living.........

Man oh man. Being out of town.....it's do-able. Especially when the family is with me. Being sick.....not fun.....not fun at all. Being sick while out of town.......miserable, I must admit. Being sick-while-out-of-town-and-when-the-hubby-gets-it-too-and-we-have-babies-to-take-care-of....................HORRENDOUS!!!!

Yep. That's right. Apparently there's some kind of "stomach bug" going around. Bug - ha. And it found me on Tuesday just before finding D on Tuesday night. I have to tell you - I can't remember the last time I've been that sick. I know I had strep back in September before I returned to work, but a stomach flu is a whole different ballgame in my opinion. A game of which I want no part. It knocked me on my butt...picked me up and knocked me down again. I woke up Tues morning feeling not so great, but not horrible. I debated..."Do I work from here today or do I go in?" and within an hour I knew I wasn't going in or working from here. I went downhill that fast. Poor D --- he was taking care of the girls and me and trying not to "cross-contaminate" although by that time any and all contamination had probably taken place in our not-as-big-as-our-house-but-great-for-a-couple-of-weeks hotel room. All of us were settled in for the evening - the girls sleeping quietly in their room, me laid out on the couch (by this time I was crossing my fingers for a 12-hour bug since I was nearing my 12th hour) - D sits down and says "It's really cold in here". Uh-oh. And a few minutes later "Is the room spinning?" Poor guy.......now what??!!??!

Earlier in the day I was asking.....well pleading......okay, okay - I was begging - D to take me to the doctor and I was met with "Honey - they're not going to be able to do anything for you - you just have to wait it out." Had I had the energy, I would have punched him right there. Once he was sick he apologized a million times or more for "thinking it was the sickness talking and not taking me so seriously." Poor guy. I couldn't say "I told you so" because I knew how miserable he was.

So anyway. We called Grandma who was a lifesaver and came up yesterday morning and stayed the night with the girls so D and I could recover. Today they packed and headed home and I'm here for one more night before heading home tomorrow. Not a fabulous ending to our otherwise nice 2 week stay, but thank goodness we're both well on our way to recovery. The thought or smell of food still makes me cringe, but I'll be over that soon, I'm sure.

And thankfully ----- (and surely I'm not jinxing us for saying this!) the girls have stayed healthy.

I had the EXACT same thing as you back in early December. Thankfully, neither Kristen nor Landon got it. I was out for 4 days. I wanted to die. I will take the flu, cold, pneumonia, anything over that stomach flu. I was sick and bedridden for 4 days - throwing up, diarrhea, fever, sweats, chills, etc. I didn't eat for 3 days. I lost 10 pounds. Luckily, Christmas helped put the weight back on and then some.

Hope you are now feeling better and back on your feet!
