Check up

A smile caught on camera! Courtesy of Daddy's funny faces.
Mommy gets lots of smiles, too.

Isabella had her 2-month check-up today to confirm what we already knew......she's thriving! At her 1 month appointment, she weighed in at 9lb 4oz......today she was up to 12lb 5oz. Holy leg rolls! We love our pediatrician -- the practice has 3 (I think!) different pediatricians and the big girls typically see one doctor and Bella has been seeing another. We like them all and I really love how patient Bella's doctor is with me and all my questions. Often times at visits I feel like a brand new mom because our experience with Bella is so different from the experience we had with Olivia and Sofia when they were Bella's age. I usually have tons of questions and she patiently (and encouragingly....of course that's a word!) answers them all.

We've been concerned that Bella has.....we'll call them "episodes" when it seems like she's in extreme pain. It usually happens in the evening (which we call the witching hour) but her cries and actions seem much worse than those of a colicky baby. She clenches her hands into fists, straightens her legs so hard that she's literally standing on my legs, and cries a cry that's much more than restlessness. So we talked about that quite a bit today. So far we're sticking with the reflux meds she's taking, making sure the dosage is appropriate for her weight, and we're just watching her for any changes. One of the frustrating parts of being a parent when your little ones aren't able to tell you where they hurt.

So there you have it. Two months have come and gone and Miss Bella is perfect!
